Greece: grenade thrown at French Embassy

An explosive device was thrown at the French embassy in central Athens. No one was killed and seriously injured in this accident. Only one of policemen has got slight shrapnel wound in his leg.

The Greek Government considers the incident as a terrorist attack. According to the police opinion, the performers were more likely connecting with not with the Islamists, but with anarchists and ultra-left groups. However, no one has yet claimed responsibility for this act.

Moreover, the French Embassy is situated near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece and near the barracks of the presidential guard. However, the attackers were not caught.
