Putin replaced Sergei Ivanov with Anton Vayno

Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed the head of his administration Sergei Ivanov, the Kremlin press service stated.

Ivanov was appointed to a new position - the representative of the president on matters of environmental activities, the environment and transport. According to Putin, Ivanov had asked to transfer him to another job.

The new head of the presidential administration is now Anton Vayno, former deputy of Ivanov.

Ivanov is a colleague of Vladimir Putin's KGB they worked in Leningrad in the late 70s. Subsequently Ivanov joined the residency in Kenya and Finland, and in the early '90s continued to work in the Foreign Intelligence Service.

Since the late '90s  he began a political career under the leadership of Putin, he became head of the FSB department, and in November 1999 as President - Secretary of the Russian Security Council.

Ivanov served as Minister of Defense of Russia (2001 and 2007), deputy chairman of the Russian government (2008 to 2011) and, finally, he was appointed head of the presidential administration.

Vladimir Putin stated that it was Ivanov’s desire to leave his position.
