China not invited to Trump’s inauguration

China has not received an official invitation to attend the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, which will be held on January 20th.

However, former Taiwanese Prime Minister Yu Shyi-kun will represent the island at the ceremony.  Along with attending the inauguration, the Taiwanese delegation will hold talks with politicians, academics, and overseas representatives of the Chinese community, as the ministry has informed on its website.

Trump lashed out at China

President-elect Donald Trump lashed out at China on Sunday, accusing the nation of manipulating its currency and blasting its military build-up in the South China Sea.

In addition, in an interview to The Wall Street Journal, Trump said he wouldn't necessarily follow the policy of "one China” if there will be no progress on Beijing’s part in regards to currency policy and doing business with the US. This was the latest sign that Trump could shake up the US-China relationship, particularly regarding Taiwan.

China warns to "take off the gloves"

US President-elect Donald Trump held a telephone call with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, during which the two countries’ close economic and political ties as well as cooperation in the field of security were mentioned.

China’s reaction was immediate. Beijing warned Washington "not to adopt punitive currency policies that could disrupt U.S.-China relations”.

The official Chinese edition Daily China alsowrote that Beijing will "take off the gloves" and take strong action if Donald Trump continues to provoke China with Taiwan.
