Xi Jinping makes stop in Italy

The plane of the Chinese leader, flying from Marrakech to Latin America, made a technical stopover on the island of Sardinia, where Xi Jinping and his wife met Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and his wife.

Some other officials of Italy, including Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni attended this expressly informal dinner.

Italy is well known to be more than interested in Chinese investments. Furthermore, the tourism factor is of a great importance: China ranks first in terms of volume of outbound tourism, and its citizens do not skimp on buying during the vacations. The chairman of the PRC confirmed this information, saying during the dinner, probably, after many Chinese people would like to go to Sardinia.
