Moldova: Second round of voting begins

Sunday, 13 November, 2016 - 11:30

Igor Dodon (the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova) and Maia Sandu (the Liberal Democratic Party) participate in the second round of voting.

During the first hour after the opening of polling stations more than 50 million voters managed to vote. The turnout is twice as much than for the first time. However, at this moment the situation is quite similar with the previous one: slightly ahead of Igor Dodon, who supports the normalization of relations with Russia.

According to some preliminary polls, held a few days before the vote, his rating is 47% against 37% of Maya Sandu. Analysts say that the Liberals could lose the trust of voters, in particular, due to the departure of the Democrats from the White House.
