The European Parliament voted to stop talks with Turkey on accession to the EU. Moreover, the decision was taken unanimously.

At the same time a few days before the two major factions of the European Parliament were calling for the freezing of the talks, while German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared, on the other hand, her wish to support Ankara.

Moreover,EU officials declared that the decision was connected with the «negative reaction» of Turkey to the coup attempt.

However, yesterday Turkish President Erdogan said that the possibility to stop the talks was no longer important for Ankara. He also added about the co-operation with the European Union: «We have made clear time and time again that we take care of European values more than many EU countries but we could not see concrete support from Western friends».

Moreover, now Ankara is considering an opportunity to enter into the SCO.
