Pakistan is historically Northern Part of Indian peninsula (Hindostan). It could be considered as Hindu Hinterland.
In general sense Pakistan forms part of the Rimland zone, stretching in Southern Eurasia from Middle East to Far East.
Its geopolitical identity is defined by Rimland position: thus Pakistani society has two poles -- Atlanticist (sea Power) and Eurasian (Land Power, continental).
Pakistan is islamic country with strong sometime radical muslim identity.
Pakistan is post-colonial entity created by Britain. It is the member of post-colonial Commonwealth controlled by Britain. That defines its geopolitical identity: Pakistan is rather ally of Great Britain and more recently of USA. The control of Atlanticists over Pakistani political elite is very strong. So the political structure of Pakistan is mostly Pro-Atlanticist.
