First International NATO Troops Arrived in Lithuania

Unfortunate start

Part of the US armored vehicles deployed in NATO countries has damaged during transfer to Poland. In addition, some American tanks accidentally arrived with discharged batteries or not completely filled ones.

That is not the last misfortune for the U.S. Army in Poland. A military truck has collided with a private van in southwestern Poland, hospitalizing two Poles.

Russian threat

NATO has been forcing its military presence on Europe for several years since the beginning of Ukrainian crisis when Russia was accused of interfering in the conflict. Moscow has repeatedly denied the claims and warned NATO that the military buildup near Russia’s borders is provocative and threatens the existing strategic balance of power.

Last summer at the NATO summit in Warsaw, the composition of the multinational battalions was finally approved. The Alliance will continue to strengthen its “Eastern Flank” in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Poland to counter "growing fear of Russia in the region".
