After arriving at Thessaloniki airport at 6:25 pm and passing passport control, Aleksandr Dugin was arrested. According to the police, “Hungary requested to not allow him passage into EU states.” The Greek frontier guards didn’t provide any clear information on this issue.
Aleksandr Dugin, who is the chief editor of the Orthodox TV Channel Tsargrad, was going to the Holy Mountain to report on the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill’s visit. It is evident that an attempt to spoil the planned visit or its regalement was made by those forces that are interested in preventing Russia and Europe’s (especially Greece) rapprochement. It can only be the US and its special forces. The demonstrative denial to permit the Russian Orthodox philosopher to the Holy Mountain should worsen the EU and Greece’s relations with Russia at a moment when more and more people in Europe are against pro-American and anti-Russian policies, including sanctions against Russia.
This incident is intentional political provocation. Near to the thousandth anniversary of Russian monkhood placement in Mount Athos, the US aimed to embroil two close Orthodox nations, united with common Byzantine heritage. After all, the Greeks took the only correct and sovereign decision: to allow the Russian philosopher to visit the Holy Mountain. The Russian side, in turn, made some contribution to solve this problem.
Of course, this incident has some religious core like everything related to Athos. Being against the unity of the Orthodox people, causing conflict, and preventing dialog on religious and philosophical topics can only be initiated by people under the influence of demons. The fact that the US authorities are possessed by such demons has been proved once more.
