USA prolongs sanctions against Sudan

U.S. President Barak Obama has extended sanctions on Sudan for another year. He declared that Khartoum actions and policies still continued to pose a threat to the national security and U.S. foreign policy.

Obama said: «These actions and policies continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States».

The sanctions could be lifted or eased after several future meetings between the governments. In fact, Washington is trying to blackmail Khartoum, seeking to further escalation of the conflict between Sudan and South Sudan for the sake of strengthening its influence on these rich regions.
