Trade War 2.0 - China will take countermeasures against new US duties

Wednesday, 8 May, 2019 - 23:54

China regretted US intentions to increase duties on a number of Chinese goods. The Ministry of Commerce of China warned that if duties were introduced, the country would be forced to take countermeasures.

We are talking about the plans of US President Donald Trump from May 10 to raise American duties on a number of Chinese goods from 10% to 25%. Thus, the American leader hopes to accelerate the conclusion of a trade deal between Washington and Beijing.

The ministry stressed that the exacerbation of trade tensions does not meet the interests of the peoples of the two countries and the whole world.

Recall that the trade war between Washington and Beijing continues for the second year. The US is demanding that China strengthen the national currency and correct the trade imbalance between countries, as well as a number of economic and political concessions. Beijing so far refuses to make concessions to Washington.
