Merkel decided to no longer run for German Chancellor

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she decided not to run for office again. It is quoted by Reuters.

In response to a question about whether she wants to stay on duty in connection with the pandemic of the coronavirus infection, Merkel objected that she had made a choice long ago and would not give up on this. She firmly decided that the current deadline would be the last.

On July 17, Merkel will turn 65 years old. In October 2018, she resigned as chairman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party. The politician also said that her current term as head of government will be the last, after which she does not intend to "occupy any political posts." Merkel has been in office since 2005, now is her fourth term.
