The Indian Air Force reported receiving the first five Rafale fighters from France.  It is reported that of the five aircraft, three are single and two are doubles.  The flight of French fighters to India is supposed to be carried out in two stages.  During the first phase, the aircraft will refuel in the air with the help of a French Air Force tanker.  The fighters are expected to arrive at the Indian base on July 29.

India entered into an agreement to acquire 36 Dassault Rafale fighters in 2016 for $ 7.8 billion.  According to the terms of the contract, the Indian side should receive 28 single and 8 double French aircraft.  According to the Indian Embassy in France, the delivery of all fighters under this agreement should be completed by the end of 2021.
