Friday, 2 December, 2016 - 01:15

There were three candidates from three parties: the currenly in service President Yahya Jammeh, who came to power 22 years ago as a result of the coup, Mamma Kandeh of the Gambia Democratic Congress and Adama

Barrow from the United Democratic Party. However, Ousainou Darboe, the founder of the United Democratic Party was considered to be great challenge for Yahya Jammeh. But this year he was convicted in July for 3 years in prison because of participation in the protests.

At the moment, the president is facing the most serious crisis of the governance, so some experts say that the opposition would probably win.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that the preliminary surveys of voters' preferences were not done, Yahya Jammeh could be assumed to continue his work as the head of the state.
