On April 9, 2018, the presidential term of Serzh Sargsyan ended. On April 17, he was appointed the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. This led to mass protests in the country. The military joined the protests, and as a result, on April 23, Serzh Sargsyan resigned. The oppositionists were released from custody.
