Pakistan to close Gulen’s schools

Sunday, 24 July, 2016 - 21:00

Pakistani government prepares to take actions against school-chain being allegedly run by Gulen Movement. This information was revealed by high-level officials to Pakistani media. In Pakistan, Gulen runs a network of about 21 schools and an intercultural dialogue platform, in addition to having business stakes. His organisations and businesses have been operating in Pakistan for decades.

Turkish government urged Pakistan to close all Gulen-related institutions even before the coup attempt, where Fethullah Gulen’s network was actively involved. Today Pakistan expresses the readiness to fulfill the Turkish request, but this will take time. Pakistan’s officials say that it is not easy for Pakistan to close down all 21 schools spread across the country as they are a well-established network catering to a large number of students.
