Poland builds a canal to the Baltic Sea, bypassing Russia

Poland continues to dig a canal through the Vistula spit in order to gain direct access to the Baltic Sea, bypassing the territorial waters of Russia. Polish President Andrzej Duda said that, despite opposition and environmental protests, this will "strengthen the sovereignty and freedom" of the country. At the same time, opponents of the project in Poland argue that it is costly and at the same time leads to the senseless destruction of natural territories.

According to Euronews, Warsaw intends to complete the construction of a canal through the Vistula spit in order to connect the Polish part of the bay with the Baltic Sea. Currently, ships can go to this point only through Russian waters. At the same time, the government explained that we are talking about the border of the EU and NATO.

Duda during a visit to the construction site said that the construction of the canal will be of great strategic importance. He called it an investment that will strengthen the sovereignty of Poland, strengthen the independence and freedom of the country.
