Kim Jong Un said nuclear threats must be met with nuclear power during what North Korea said was a successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile engine.

Kim Jong Un was present at the Sohae Satellite Launching Station, where he issued an order to test a "new intercontinental ballistic engine," Pyongyang said in statement issued Saturday.

KCNA stated Kim had taken time out of his "busy" schedule overseeing the 70-day "battle" or mass rally across the country – taking place in preparation for the Seventh Party Congress, to be held in May.

The purpose of the test was to assess the "technical characteristics" of a newly designed engine, according to North Korea.
