Construction of pipeline in North Dakota stopped

Monday, 5 December, 2016 - 12:30

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced about the suspension of the pipeline's construction in North Dakota until other layings of the ways were appreciated.

This decision was made after numerous protests of environmental organizations and representatives of the indigenous peoples.

But talking about Indians’ victory over these corporations is premature. At the moment,  the evaluation of other ways of this route is going on. However, the Corps of Engineers' representatives affirm that there are no alternatives and it is still not known whether such possibility appears or not after this overestimation of the situation.

In addition, the project was frozen and resumed several times. Donald Trump is a supporter of the current route without any changes. So there is a strong possibility that after his inauguration the construction would be started again.
