The Chinese navy has seized an American underwater drone, which was deployed in the South China Sea. The Pentagon reports that the device has been collecting some scientific data about the situation in the international waters. The incident has occurred near the Philippines.

Beijing believes that the device was in the zone of responsibility of China (in waters disputed by China and the Philippines). The Chinese naval vessel has found an unidentified object, after which this underwater drone came under the testing.

At the moment, the Pentagon demands the return of the glider. In turn, Beijing, hopes to “solve this problem safely”. The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) highlights good relations and contacts with their American counterparts.

Most likely, this underwater drone will soon be returned to the Pentagon. However, Chinese engineers have thoroughly studied the equipment. There have been before such cases, when after various exhibitions or some repair works analogs of foreign weapons appeared in China.
