The wokism bubble burst with the arrival of Trump

05.02.2025

A large part of Trump's campaign was based on the American people being fed up with the delusional ideas of wokism. We can say that Trump's election heralds the end of wokism in the United States and, by extension, the end of wokism throughout the West, because Europe always follows the United States in its dominant trends.

The wokism bubble has burst, but not just because Trump has been elected. What is more important is the rallying behind Trump of the big bosses of GAFAM, such as Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg. These people were the most important vectors of Wokism, in major Western companies, on social networks and on the major video content platforms. Today, however, we see Mark Zuckerberg taking a stance that is radically opposed to that of the past, advocating the need to restore true masculine and virile values. We can doubt the sincerity of these people, that's for sure, but the important thing is that they have rallied behind Trump. Since the Trump administration took office, we have already seen the end of equality and inclusiveness obligations in schools, government departments and large companies. All this will only be possible because GAFAMs will no longer be supporting these policies of generalised poisoning.

This rallying of the GAFAMs, whose starting point is the active support of Elon Musk and his financial power for the Trump dynamic, is absolutely essential to understanding that the 2nd Trump presidency will be much more powerful than the first. In the first Trump was president, but he had not only the deep state against him but also the bulk of the American economy and in particular the GAFAMs.

This time the situation is radically different.

Let's look at the evolution of support for Trump's ideas. In 2017, during the first presidency, support among 18/29 year-olds was just 20%, and young people opposed to Trump represented 57% of this category. In January 2025, 53% of young people were in favour of Trump and 42% against. Support for Trump's ideas and his desire to put an end to wokism is massive in the country.

I don't think wokism is just on hiatus. I think the bubble has really burst. And this rapid changeover shows that this ideology was never an object of conviction on the part of the majority, but rather an object of conformity. It was the trend imposed by an 'elite' (a false elite, of course) and so the masses felt they had no choice but to obey it. People defended these ideas not out of any desire to adhere to them but because they felt they had no choice and that they were putting themselves in danger if they didn't. What's more, the Left often manages to make people believe that there is a "sense of history". Wokism was that sense of history for many people. Right up until the last moment, the wokist bubble, like a financial bubble, inflated and accelerated with the Kamala Harris candidacy. This candidacy was furiously wokist, much more so than Biden's before.

Now it has to be said that one part of wokism is dead, not necessarily the other. How do you define wokism? Wokism is this movement from the left that is the intersection of different struggles. It emerged after the fall of the USSR, when communism collapsed as the dominant ideology on the left. Marxist software was then orphaned and looked for a replacement ideology.Left-wing software works in the following way. It constantly seeks to integrate new so-called oppressed categories. People it considers not to be part of the established order and whom it can defend. When leftism has finished integrating one part of the population, it looks for another. After the end of the working class in Western societies, leftism turned its attention to two categories of population. The first is based on a growing demographic reality and therefore a strong electoral potential: ethnic and religious minorities (non-Christian non-whites). The second is demographically marginal but spectacular in its aggressive demands: LGBTQI+, or sexual minorities.

Obviously, these two categories of population are not compatible, since Muslims, to name but one, have immense contempt for homosexuals, transgender people and other bizarre categories. The principle of the intersectionality of struggles was to bring these two incompatible struggles together in a single leftist struggle. Everyone knew that intersectionality was so full of contradictions that it was unsustainable, but the question was when it was going to break down.

We can draw an analogy here with the leftism of the late nineteenth century, with on the one hand the workers' movement representing the demographic mass and on the other the anarchists defending a number of extravagant anti-bourgeois causes, such as total sexual libertarianism. We know that anarchism will not survive in the face of workers' communism because what interested the workers was improving their working conditions and wages, not being able to go nudist.

We are in the same situation today. Libertarian wokism (LGBTQI+) is going to give way to ethnic-religious wokism alone, and that's who will be up against Trump and his ideological allies in Europe. 7 October 2023 in Israel was the starting point for this wokist acceleration. In the United States, the demonstrations we are going to see will be more pro-Palestine and anti-Israel than LGBTQI+ demonstrations.  Trump produced his first anti-gender ideology executive orders without any demonstrations or strong media reaction.

The reason is that GAFAM are rallying behind him. It should also be said that many of the Jewish bosses of the GAFAMs are now very well aware of ethnic-religious wokism, which they consider dangerously anti-Semitic, and this justifies their rallying behind Trump.

I'm not saying that LGBTQI+ wokism is totally dead in the West, but let's just say that it will no longer benefit from the mass promotion it enjoyed in the past.

The question is whether it was Trump who killed this LGBT wokism or whether the arrival of Trump is not a consequence of the death of this wokism and the fact that a large part of the GAFAM Jewish establishment has taken fright since 7 October 2023.
