Russia and Iran: Development Instead of Sanctions

27.03.2025

Vladimir Putin has submitted a strategic partnership agreement with Iran to the State Duma for ratification. The document was signed in January 2025 and includes provisions for military-technical cooperation, countering sanctions, ensuring security in the Caspian region, building nuclear facilities, and creating an independent payment infrastructure.

In previous decades, Russian-Iranian cooperation was undermined by pro-Western officials on both sides. They were willing to sacrifice national interests to maintain good relations with the United States and Europe. The same occurred in our approach to DPRK, and now we have to build up our potential at an accelerated pace.

Trumpism, of course, is much better than Biden's satanic globalism. But the slogan Make America Great Again speaks with cowboy bluntness about American nationalism, without much concern for the interests of other countries, including us. Therefore, when building a dialogue with Trump's US, it is important not to forget that this dialogue is based on their recognition of our geopolitical power. The treaty with Iran is aimed at strengthening our sovereignty and national interests. In the coming multipolar world, one can be a pole only by the right of the strong. And the strong chooses his friends himself.
