Iran is going to execute the CIA spies

Iran reported the arrest of 17 CIA agents who handed over the nuclear and military secrets of the Islamic Republic to the Americans. Some of the detainees have already been sentenced to death. Is Tehran going in such a way to open confrontation with the USA and what did US spies do in general?

In the case, which can be conventionally called the "United States against Iran", new turns continue to appear. Since the US’s unilateral withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, relations between Washington and Tehran have dramatically escalated.

Iran is the main geopolitical rival of the United States in the Middle East. For more than a decade, Washington has been carrying out plans to maximize Tehran’s influence on the region, criticizes Iran for developing nuclear weapons, and now, as it is before the outbreak of conflicts, it’s as if setting a precedent after precedent.

One gets the impression that if the Americans have nothing to put on Iran’s appearance in conditions when the IAEA confirms the republic’s compliance with the nuclear agreement, then it is necessary to create a certain critical mass of violations, aggressive actions and so on, so that you can act, motivating these actions with the whole mass of sin.

On July 22, Iran publicly accused the United States of lying about the drone that was shot down from the American amphibious assault ship Boxer. Tehran showed footage shot by this drone, which clearly shows the ship that shot down a drone. The question arises: if the unit was shot down by the Americans, how did the video become available to Iran?

Meanwhile, the United States continues to accuse Tehran of aggression against tankers in the Strait of Hormuz - the main oil transport artery of the Middle East. It seemed that Iran had finally switched to the tactics of refuting US statements and did not intend to take any more decisive actions.

However, on July 22, it became known that Iranian authorities detained 17 CIA spies and some of them will now be executed. At the moment, it is difficult to imagine a more sensitive blow to American interests than exposing the network of CIA agents in the Islamic Republic. More serious this blow could be if the Iranian authorities directly attacked US ships.

It is known that all the detainees are Iranian citizens who, to one degree or another, cooperated with the United States. Information about them is extremely small, and besides this, Tehran does not make any detailed statements. What threatens to turn this step for Iran?

CIA Network in the heart of the Islamic Republic

All central Iranian and Arab media write about the arrest of spies. This topic is not bypassed in the United States, where in this arrest they see a big aggressive attack on Washington. According to Bloomberg, Iranian authorities arrested members of a spy network, which in fact was discovered several months ago.

US President Donald Trump has already responded to Tehran’s statement, calling this information “lies and propaganda”:
 CIA spies is totally false. Zero truth. It is a bad idea. Their economy is dead, and will get much worse. Iran is a total mess!

A spokesman for the Trump administration said the White House would not comment on intelligence activities. But what exactly did Iran say?

A senior Iranian intelligence official told foreign media that 17 people were detained. All of them are Iranian citizens, some of whom have already been sentenced to death. At the same time, the official did not specify when the sentences were handed down and to what number of detainees. It is also known that the detainees were part of the CIA's spy network, which worked in “sensitive areas” - military and nuclear.

The Iranian agency Tasnim has published photos and personal files of some detainees. Judging by the documents, these are not ordinary agents, but curators or recruiters who bribed the Iranians with money and promises that they would soon be able to travel to the United States easily.

It is clarified that the spies acted from the territory of the UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. However, they were arrested in May, and now some of them were sentenced to death.

Death penalty in Iran

Iranian authorities are subjected to severe criticism for the number and cruelty of executions. International human rights activists have long been sounding the alarm, saying that only in 2015, Tehran executed almost a thousand people, and this happens in the republic annually. Iran lives by the harsh Islamic laws based on Sharia law. According to them, death is punishable by murder, rape, homosexuality, adultery, blasphemy, robbery, armed robbery, drug smuggling, as well as treason and espionage.

The most common method of execution in Iran is a public hanging on a crane, and not a lethal injection at all, as is the case, for example, in the United States. Human rights defenders are most disturbed by the archaic way of execution by stoning to death with stones. And although the Iranian authorities officially banned this method, from time to time it still applies. Stoning women most often punished women for adultery, as in ancient times, this method was also a form of public censure.

Most of the executions in Iran now occur on charges of drug trafficking or drug trafficking. According to surveys, most Iranians support the highest measure, considering it fair for lawbreakers who have committed serious crimes.

Spy War

However, now that the CIA has strengthened surveillance of Iran, they have begun to sentence people for espionage to death. At the end of June, that is, just a month ago, in Iran, the death sentence was carried out against former defense contractor Jalal Hadjizawar.

As stated then in a report by Al Jazeera, a high-ranking ex-official was accused of spying for the CIA and the US government. However, his execution was not public; the sentence was carried out in a prison in the city of Karaj, west of Tehran. It is noteworthy that his wife also came under suspicion and was involved in the case as an accomplice. The authorities sentenced her to 15 years in prison.

Therefore, it can now be stated that the Iranian authorities, due to the actions of the United States, found themselves in a situation where they respond to Washington’s hostility in the ways they can by announcing spy hunting. Attempts by Americans to reshape a conservative traditional Iranian society according to certain democratic patterns are doomed to failure. And the matter here is not at all in some kind of hostility, but in the traditions, cultural code of the Iranian nation, generations living according to the laws on the basis of Sharia.

The United States can be indignant with indiscriminate public executions in Iran, although they actually look creepy. However, the CIA is known for its promises of big money or some mythical freedom to those it recruits. Iran with its strict laws is no exception here. And if the CIA recruited the Iranians and uses them as spies, then, by disowning them, the US only shows how much they value those who work for them.

Iranian authorities get this original trump card from the sleeve in time, because it seems strange that those suspected of espionage were detained as early as May, but this fact was not widely publicized. Now in the American-Iranian confrontation comes the stage when the most acute contradictions between the Islamic traditional world and the West, which, unlike Iran, is trying to impose its vision on not only politics, but also public life.
