Finally, the west admitted its “war with Russia”

The unfolded geopolitical events that took place since Maidan uprisings in Ukraine led to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The Maidan uprising is an unforgettable event in the modern history of Russia-Europe relations. Maidan was what Russia calls the “color revolution” that has been shaping the political landscape of the post-Soviet space since the end of the Cold War. For decades, Russia has been accusing the United States and its European allies of subverting Russian Friendly regimes in the post-Soviet space through covert operations. At various international meetings and summits, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated the broken promise referring to the western assurances to post-soviet Russia concerning NATO that “it will not cross Russia’s red line”.

In his controversial but famous Munich Conference speech in 2007, the Russian President warned the U.S. and its allies in Europe to pay heed to Russia’s security concerns in the Post-Soviet space and respect Russia’s red lines. Unfortunately, the champions of democracy do not seem serious about international security and peace with Russia. While addressing the Munich conference, President Putin reminded the Western leaders by quoting Manfred Wörner's Speech to support his claim that NATO promised not to expand into new Eastern European countries. Putin quoted;

“The fact that we are ready not to place a NATO army outside of German territory gives the Soviet Union a firm security guarantee." Where are these guarantees? "

A day earlier, U.S. and Germany announced that they will send tanks to Ukraine with additional military aid. The news was not well received by the people in the West on the pretext of growing insecurity that the arrival of modern tanks such as Leopard II and M1 Abram might exacerbate the already escalated conflict and might prolong the war. The U.S. and Germany’s decision to send modern tanks to Ukraine dragged huge criticism across the media landscape and even political opinion in the west remained divided. For instance, a German member of Parliament from the Alternative for Germany (AFD) Petr Bystron, slammed the German government's decision: Petr Bystron, German MP said in his furious speech:

"This is an interesting approach that you are taking here. German tanks against Russia in Ukraine. Your grandfathers already tried that, by the way, back then with the Melnyks and Banderas, and what is the result?"

In the pages of history, Russia has been an unconquered land and no one knows this better than the Europeans. German MP referring to Hitler's decision to attack Russia with Panzers and its aftermath attempted to remind the Germans about the mistake of their forefathers. A day earlier, in a stunning statement, Germany's foreign minister admits that Germany is at war with Russia. Scholz, the German Chancellor, has just done a U-turn and caved to Western pressure by sending Leopard tanks to Ukraine. President Biden has dispatched a battalion of Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

After denying it for months, finally, the NATO alliance is slowly moving toward full-scale conflict with Russia in Ukraine. The recent statement of the German Foreign Miniter clearly demonstrates how Europe under the U.S. tutelage is indulging itself in the American imperial war against Russia.

It is also important to note that the use of military force is not a viable solution to Ukraine's ongoing conflict. War causes enormous human suffering and destruction, and it is not a viable means of resolving disputes between the parties involved.

It seems that History is repeating itself in Ukraine across the geopolitical and geostrategic spheres. U.S. and Europe appear reckless because they do not understand the gravity of the ongoing situation in Ukraine. Months after the war in Ukraine Russian President Vladimir Putin reminded the west with a steep warning that Russia cannot be defeated on the battlefield. On July 7, during a meeting with parliament leaders, Putin accused Western allies of fuelling the conflict, claiming that "the West wants to fight us until the last Ukrainian." Putin told the Russian Parliamentary leaders; “It looks like it's heading in that direction,” and warned that everyone should understand that Russia "by and large hasn't started anything serious yet."

If the war in Ukraine is prolonged that it might end up in disaster not just for Ukraine but for the rest of the world. From a historical standpoint, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is a replica of the Vietnam war and the Cuban Missile quagmire during the peak of the Cold War and the result of this war might be a catastrophe for the whole world. The time has arrived when the U.S. should abandon its global police-type attitude and get serious about making a peace deal with Russia. The present-day escalation in Ukraine is just a calm before the storm, if not taken the situation seriously then the world might end up in a nuclear catastrophe.

In fact, it is critical that all parties involved in Ukraine's conflict engage in dialogue and negotiations in order to reach a peaceful resolution. This should include the participation of international organizations such as the United Nations, as well as neutral third-party mediators.
