Turkish delegation arrives in Russia

According to the schedule, a meeting will be held with the Russian Minister of Energy and Economic Development. Turkish officials will stay in Moscow for a total of two days.

Official agenda

The head of the group of Turkish diplomats is Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli. The delegation includes Turkey’s Minister of Economy, Nihat Zeybekci.

According to protocol, the parties will discuss the full restoration of trade and economic relations between Russia and Turkey. In particular, they will focus on charter flights, Turkish companies in Russia, and goods exports.

Turkish Stream

Discussions could also touch on the construction of a gas pipeline running from Russia to Turkey. This project was announced at the end of 2014 when the European Commission blocked the possibility of laying the "South Stream" gas pipeline through Bulgaria. However, an intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Turkey on the project has not yet been signed.

On the eve of the Erdogan-Putin meeting

It is already known that the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, will arrive in St. Petersburg on August 9th, where he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
