Turkey and the EU will play a shell game

On March 18th, Brussels will host the final part of the EU summit on relations with Turkey and resolving the problem of migrants. It is expected that the agreement with Turkey, which will receive additional funding in return for manipulating refugees, will be signed.

The shell game with Turkey

Turkey's plan to solve the refugee problem is very simple: Turkey, from a certain date, will start to pick up refugees from the Greek islands of the Aegean Sea, and at the same time the EU will import the same amount of refugees from Turkey, thus, an eternal circulation of refugees will be created. As a result of this policy, the number of migrants in the EU will not diminish, and this spontaneous process will acquire the character of a planned settlement of immigrants from the Middle East to Europe.

Who will be against it?

Traditional opponents, mainly the Eastern European countries led by Hungary and Slovakia, will be against the EU's refugee policy of forced resettlement. If anyone torpedoes the agreement, it will be one of them.  Britain will also refuse to participate in the plans for resettlement.

Anti-European elite

The fact that the EU leaders are ready to accept this plan shows that the question of national identity of their populations does not concern the European elite. This question, in principle, does not matter in the framework of the liberal paradigm.

The two Turkish requirements will not be accepted

Turkey has also demanded the acceleration of the negotiations on EU membership and the introduction a visa-free regime as soon as possible. In response, the EU set out 72 demands in order for Turkey to get a visa-free regime. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that Turkey cannot enter the EU in the next 10 years, thus both issues are postponed for an indefinite period of time.

Turkey insists on the adoption of its plan, threatening to push even more refugees into the EU, and requiring new money from the EU once their visa-free regime and membership prospects are delayed.
