Israel Creates New Apartheid

19.07.2018

Today, the Knesset passed a law with 62 votes in favor and 55 against, on the Jewish character of the State of Israel. This law gives the status of the state language to Hebrew. The Arabic language, spoken by 20% of the country's population, ceases to be official and receives a special status. According to the new norm, Israel is declared the historical homeland of the Jewish people and has the exclusive right to self-determination on its territory.

The law will promote the creation of exclusively Jewish settlements and the unity of the Jewish people. In addition, the norms of traditional Jewish law and Jewish traditions become sources of Israeli law and can be used to make judgments.

Individual media and countries have attacked Israel, claiming that its authorities are creating a new "apartheid". Federica Mogherini, the EU High Representative, expressed concern on behalf of the European Union, noting that Tel Aviv's decision violates the "two states for two peoples" principle.

Leaving aside brackets for disassembling Arabs and Jews in Israel, let's take a look at the situation from the point of view of our country. It is mostly for the consolidation of the status of the people, which is the basis and stronghold of the state.
