Change of staff in Washington

Donald Trump removed from the post of US Foreign Secretary Rex Tillerson, appointing in his place the head of the CIA, Mike Pompeo. The first director of the CIA for the first time will be a woman who led a secret prison in Thailand

Tillerson is one of many

The administration of President Trump lost another player. On March 13, the head of the White House fired his Foreign Minister Rex Tillerson. The new Secretary of State is Mike Pompeo. He was succeeded by Jeanne Cherie Haspel, who spent most of her career working as an undercover agent.

"Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!" — Donald J. Trump

Expert on torture

A woman is appointed for the post of the new director of the CIA for the first time in US history. Gina Haspel spent most of her career "undercover", heading the headquarters of the head of the secret service of the CIA, Jose Rodriguez. Haspel personally participated in the so-called expanded interrogation program and in 2002 led a secret prison in Thailand, where the method of "waterboarded" (torture by drowning) was used.
